Studio lights off

The commercial is over.

Tell us what happened. From here on this page behaves like a law office rather than a billboard, because that is what you need it to do.

Before you write

Keep it general. A short description of the type of problem, the type of business, and any deadline is enough for a first message. It is genuinely all that is useful at this stage.

Do not send confidential or privileged material yet. Not documents, not the regulator’s letter, not the names of everyone involved beyond what a conflicts check needs. Until a conflicts check is done and an engagement is confirmed in writing, this is not a protected channel.

Sending this form does not make anyone your lawyer. An attorney-client relationship begins only when both sides agree to it in writing.

If you are on a deadline

Say so in the first line and give the date. Do not wait for a form to be the fastest way to reach a lawyer — the firm’s telephone number is below and works during business hours.

Advertising dept. — final note

We were told the form could not have a countdown timer, a siren, or the words “ACT NOW.” We asked what we could have. We were given one exclamation point and told to spend it wisely. We are saving it.

Tell us what happened

Short version first. Long version later, in private.

Confidentiality notice

Do not include confidential, privileged or time-sensitive information in this form. Submitting it does not create an attorney-client relationship, and information sent before an engagement is confirmed may not be treated as confidential.

Footnotes

  1. No response time is promised. Messages are reviewed and a conflicts check is run before any substantive reply.
  2. If the firm cannot take the matter, it will say so plainly. That is a real outcome and it is not a failure of the form.
  3. Evans Law, PC is located in Tustin, California. Brett G. Evans is admitted to practice in California and in the federal courts listed on the About page.
